授課對象：

The course aims to provide an introduction to recent work on Chinese syntax. Since the field of syntax is not monolithic, both functional and Minimalist/GB perspectives are introduced to inspire students with critical thinking and discussion on the current state of researches in Chinese syntax.

 

Based on the summary of recent work on Chinese grammar made by domestic and foreign scholars, the content of this course will be divided into 16 units:

3. Topic, Subject ,and Object in Mandarin
4. Aspect
5. The Basic Structure of Clauses and Nominal Constituents
6. Auxiliary Verbs and Verb Phrases
7. Adverbs and Adverbial Placement
8. The System of Interrogatives
9. The System of Negation
10. Serial Verb Constructions 
11. The ba Construction
12. The bei Construction
13. Dou, distributivity and Universal Quantifiers
14. Existential Sentences
15. Ellipsis Constructions
16. Counting and Classifying Eventualities in Chinese
